The goal of the project was to provide ample accommodation and workspace in an area of outstanding beauty. Located in Eastern Bulgaria, near the Black Sea coast, the house offers stunning views of the mountain range to the north and a serene lake to the east, which is home to a variety of wild birds. The large orchard to the southwest adds to the charm of the setting.
The design concept of the Orchard Stone House draws inspiration from the structure of nuts, with a robust pair of stone walls. The use of stone quarried from the site not only adds to the unique aesthetic of the building but also reflects the connection between the house and its natural surroundings.
The house features a concrete structure and stone external walls, blending modern design with the rustic beauty of the rural landscape. With a habitable area of 300 sqm, the Orchard Stone House provides comfortable and functional living spaces for its occupants.
Designed by Rado Iliev, the Orchard Stone House is a testament to the harmonious integration of architecture and nature. Its unique design and attention to detail have earned it the Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building, and Structure Design category in 2023. This prestigious award recognizes the outstanding creativity and resourcefulness of the design, as well as its contribution to improving the quality of life.
